Sealy Office

Mary Sanders, DVM

Dr. Mary Sanders is originally from League City, Texas.  She graduated magna cum laude as a proud member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 2004 and graduated cum laude from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008.  Dr. Sanders joined the practice in January 2010 and has special interests in internal medicine and soft tissue surgery.  Dr. Sanders is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and is active in the local Pony Club.  She is married to Dr. Brent Sanders, who works in the Bellville office.  Together they have two beautiful daughters, Aven and Adele, and she is a stepmother to two more beautiful girls, Abigail and Amelia, as well.  When not at work, Dr. Sanders likes to participate in three-day eventing, reading and running.

Dennis Marek, DVM

Dr. Dennis Marek grew up on a dairy farm in Industry, Texas.  He graduated from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 1979 and opened Marek Veterinary Clinic in Sealy the same year.  He and his wife Rebecca have two daughters, Marissa and Meredith , and one grandson, Damien.  Dr. Marek loves to play golf, work outside and travel.

Bellville Office

Brent Sanders, MS, DVM

Dr. Brent Sanders is from Katy, Texas and graduated from Katy High School before earning a Bachelor’s and a Master’s of Animal Science at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas.  He graduated from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008 and joined the practice in late 2009.  Dr. Sanders has special interests in small animal orthopedic surgery and equine and bovine medicine.  His wife, Dr. Mary Sanders practices out of our Sealy office.  Dr. Sanders has 4 daughters, Abigail, Amelia, Aven and Adele; needless to say he is hopelessly out numbered!  In his time out of the office, Dr. Sanders enjoys camping, fishing and taking on projects at home.

Jasmin Moreno – Technician

Jasmin joined the practice in 2010.  She graduated from Bellaire High School in 2006.  She is currently attending Blinn College to complete her associate’s degree in Science and then plans to transfer to Texas A&M in hopes of going to vet school.  In her spare time she enjoys hanging out with her little sister and crafting.  Jasmin helps with surgery, patient care and monitoring, appointments, reception, lab work and treatments.  She speaks fluent Spanish and has excellent dog handling skills.

Meredith Marek – Technician

Meredith, Dr. Dennis Marek’s daughter, began working at the clinic full-time in 2010.  She has an associate’s degree in Social Sciences.  Meredith loves spending time with her husband Richard and her son Damien.  She enjoys being outside, working in the yard and lives to vacation!  Meredith spends a lot of her time managing the office paperwork, but also helps with all aspects of patient care.  She has excellent people skills and a special love for large dogs.

Karen Pavelka – Technician

Karen has been working at the clinic since 1993.  In her spare time, she enjoys riding horses and taking care of her herd of cats.  Karen helps with surgery, patient care and monitoring, appointments, reception, lab work and treatments; she also helps manage the office.   Karen is especially good with cats and is known for being able to handle even the most fractious feline patients.

Amber Cowart – Technician

Amber has been with the clinic since 2004.  While she does many different jobs at the clinic, she is especially skilled at handling our large animal patients.  She enjoys spending her time off riding her three horses and being with her six dogs, who are ALWAYS with her.  She also gardens, enjoys cooking and helping her husband with their cattle hauling business.

Dawn Smith – Technician

Dawn joined our staff in May of 2013. She moved to Bellville in 2003 from Alabama where she was a technician and hospital manager. Dawn has 14 years experience working in the veterinary field. When not at work, she enjoys playing flyball, dog training, crafting, cooking, photography and fishing. She has 6 dogs, 2 horses and a cat. Dawn and her husband Mike are active members of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (Communications and Special Services Committee); they are also active with Houston Sheltie Rescue.
